The fruit was grown exclusively on “Caythorpe” situated in the heart of the Central Wairau Plains. The 2019 growing season was characterised by an earlier than usual bud burst, and remarkably warm summer. Two cane, vertical shoot positioned (VSP) Pinot Noir clone 115 vines were carefully managed with shoot and bunch thinning, along with a calculated level of leaf exposure to deliver low yielding, clean fruit with concentrated flavours.
A single small parcel was harvested March 30th; lightly pressed and fermented in chilled stainless steel to highlight aromatic characteristics. 100% Pinot Noir. Bottled August 2019.
