Eight hectares of grapevines were planted at Caythorpe in 1987 to diversify the traditional farming business.
Our vines are situated on free draining deep silt loam soils over alluvial gravels.
Combined with plentiful sunshine, cool nights and low rainfall, we have perfect conditions for growing world class wines.
We go to great lengths to select only the very best small parcels of fruit from the entire vineyard to make our flagship Caythorpe wine.
The image that appears on all our wine labels is that of our founding ancestor David, with three of his prized Lincoln sheep. Without David's vision, leadership and sacrifice we wouldn't have an opportunity to produce wines that are reflective of our family values and provenance. We think that deserves special recognition.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is fully accredited with Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). Wines with AMW accreditation are 100% sourced from Marlborough vineyards, adhere to strict quality parameters, bottled in NZ and belong to an industry recognised sustainability programme. As a consumer you can trust brands featuring the AMW logo are honest-to-goodness Marlborough wine, nothing less.
